🚀 Getting Started
About LeapFrog
What exactly does LeapFrog Computers Consulting do?
LeapFrog helps small and mid-sized businesses eliminate manual work, protect their data, and strengthen their digital presence. We do this through three core services:
- Business Automation — We build systems that handle repetitive tasks automatically, so your team can focus on the work that actually grows your business.
- Data Storage Solutions — We design and manage secure, self-hosted backup infrastructure so your critical files are protected and always accessible.
- Website Maintenance — We keep your website fast, secure, and up to date so it works as a real business tool — not just a digital brochure.
Think of us as the technology partner that handles the back-end systems your business runs on — so you can run more efficiently without adding more staff.
Who do you typically work with?
Our clients are typically business owners and operations managers at companies with under 100 employees — people who are running fast, wearing many hats, and know that manual processes are slowing them down but haven't had the time or right partner to fix it.
We work across a wide range of industries including contractors, property management, manufacturing, real estate, professional services, healthcare support, and service businesses.
The common thread: businesses that are serious about growth but need their technology to work harder for them.
Where are you located? Do you work with businesses outside Long Island?
We're based in Middle Island, New York and serve businesses throughout Long Island and the greater New York area.
Many of our services — including automation builds, system monitoring, and data management — are delivered fully remotely, so we're also able to work with businesses across the country. If you're not on Long Island, reach out and we'll let you know what's possible for your situation.
Are you veteran-owned? What certifications do you hold?
Yes. LeapFrog Computers Consulting is founded and operated by Christopher Tyson, a U.S. military veteran with a background spanning technology, healthcare, and business operations.
We hold the following certifications:
- Veteran-Owned Business (VA Certified)
- Minority Business Enterprise (MBE Certified)
These aren't just credentials — they reflect a commitment to quality, reliability, and accountability that runs through everything we do.

What We Offer
What's the difference between what you do and regular IT support?
⚡ Key Difference
Traditional IT support is reactive — something breaks, you call someone. LeapFrog is proactive and strategic. We build the systems and workflows that make your business run smarter, not just keep it running.
Standard IT support handles things like password resets, printer issues, antivirus, and basic network maintenance. We focus on a different layer:
- Connecting your tools and platforms so data flows automatically
- Eliminating the manual steps that slow your team down every day
- Building self-hosted data infrastructure that keeps your files secure and accessible
- Making sure your website is a real business asset, not an afterthought
Many of our clients already have IT support in place — and we work alongside them, not instead of them.
Do you offer break/fix IT support or hardware repairs?
No — break/fix IT and hardware repairs are not part of what we do. If you need someone to fix a computer, replace a hard drive, or troubleshoot a printer, we can refer you to the right resource.
Our focus is on business systems and automation — the software, workflows, data infrastructure, and digital processes that determine how efficiently your business runs at scale.
What does website maintenance include?
Our website maintenance service keeps your site secure, current, and performing at its best. This typically includes:
- Software, plugin, and security updates
- Regular performance and speed monitoring
- Content updates — hours, photos, services, team pages
- Uptime monitoring with alerts
- Monthly reports on site health
- Backup and restore capability
We also connect website forms and contact flows directly into your business systems — so leads that come in through your site don't get lost in someone's inbox.
Can you work alongside our existing IT team or vendor?
Absolutely — and this is actually the most common situation. Most of our clients have an IT support provider already handling day-to-day technical issues. We come in for a different layer of the work that most IT teams don't specialize in: automation, AI integration, and data infrastructure strategy.
We'll coordinate with your existing IT vendor as needed and make sure any systems we build integrate cleanly with your current setup. No turf wars, no redundancy — just focused work in the area where we add the most value.
⚙️ Automation
How It Works
What kinds of business processes can be automated?
If your team is doing the same task the same way more than twice a week, it's worth looking at. Common areas we automate for clients:
- Lead management — capturing, routing, and following up with leads automatically
- Client onboarding — intake forms, document collection, welcome sequences
- Scheduling & dispatch — booking confirmations, reminders, route assignments
- Reporting & data entry — pulling data from multiple sources into one clean report
- Invoice and payment workflows — automated reminders, receipts, and records
- Email triage — classifying, routing, and responding to incoming emails by category
- Inventory tracking — low-stock alerts, purchase orders, reconciliation
Every business is different — the best automations come out of understanding your specific bottlenecks, which is why we always start with a discovery conversation.
What tools do you use to build automation systems?
We build using a combination of best-in-class platforms depending on your needs and existing stack:
- n8n — our primary workflow automation platform for complex, multi-step business logic
- AI / Claude & GPT-4 — for intelligent classification, content generation, and decision-making within workflows
- Supabase / PostgreSQL — for structured data storage, logging, and reporting
- Twilio & Vapi — for SMS, voice, and AI phone call automation
- Zapier / Make — for lighter integrations between common SaaS tools
We prioritize tools that are reliable, maintainable, and — where possible — self-hosted, so you're not locked into subscriptions you don't control.
How long does it take to build an automation system?
It depends on complexity, but here's a general range:
- Simple single-workflow automation (e.g., lead capture → CRM entry → email follow-up): 1–2 weeks
- Multi-step business process (e.g., full onboarding flow with forms, notifications, and scheduling): 2–4 weeks
- Custom system build (e.g., AI-powered email intelligence across multiple inboxes): 4–8 weeks
We always deliver in phases — you'll see working results quickly, not just a long project with nothing to show until the end.
Do I need to be technical to use the systems you build?
No — and that's the whole point. Every system we build is designed for the person who will actually use it, not the person who built it.
We give you clean dashboards, simple interfaces, and clear documentation. You don't need to know how the engine works — you just need to drive the car. We handle the technical complexity so you can focus on running your business.
We also provide training and ongoing support so your team feels confident using whatever we build together.
💵 Pricing & Process
What to Expect
How does pricing work?
💡 Important
We don't publish fixed pricing because every engagement is scoped based on what you actually need. There's no standard package that fits every business, and we'd rather give you an accurate number than pad a quote with work you don't need.
In general, our pricing falls into two models:
- Project-based — a fixed price for a defined scope of work, paid in phases as we deliver
- Retainer / ongoing support — a monthly rate for businesses that want continuous system monitoring, maintenance, and improvements
We compete on quality and results — not on being the cheapest option. Our clients stay with us because the work pays for itself.
What happens during the free consultation?
The free 30-minute consultation is a focused discovery call — no pitch, no pressure. Here's what we cover:
- Your business overview — what you do, how your team operates, what tools you use
- Where the friction is — the manual tasks, bottlenecks, and recurring headaches eating your team's time
- Your goals — what a win looks like for you in the next 3–6 months
- What's possible — we'll give you a clear, honest picture of what automation or technology could do for your situation
You'll leave the call knowing exactly what we'd recommend and roughly what it would cost — with zero obligation.
Is there a minimum engagement size or contract length?
There's no minimum contract length for project work — we define the scope, agree on deliverables, and work through it. Some projects are a few weeks; others run for several months.
For ongoing retainer arrangements (website maintenance, system monitoring, continuous automation support), we typically work on a month-to-month or quarterly basis.
We don't lock clients into long-term contracts they don't need. If the relationship is working, clients stay. If your needs change, we adjust.
Do you offer any kind of free assessment before we commit?
Yes — and it's one of our most useful starting points. We offer a Free Business Technology Assessment that gives you a clear snapshot of where your current setup stands and where the biggest opportunities are.
This includes a review of your current workflows, tools, data situation, and web presence. You'll receive a written summary of findings and recommendations — whether you move forward with us or not.
We also offer free interactive tools on our site — including an Automation Assessment, ROI Calculator, and Website Analyzer — that you can use right now without any commitment.
🔒 Data & Security
Protecting Your Business
What is a self-hosted data storage solution, and why does it matter?
Most businesses store their files on cloud services like Google Drive or Dropbox — which means someone else controls your data, and you pay a monthly subscription for the privilege.
A self-hosted solution (we use Synology NAS systems) puts your data on hardware you own, at your location or a location you control. This means:
- You own your data — no third-party access
- No per-user, per-month cloud storage fees
- Faster local access for large files
- Automatic on-site and off-site backup (the 3-2-1 backup rule)
- HIPAA-friendly configurations for healthcare-adjacent businesses
It's a one-time infrastructure investment that pays for itself — typically within 12–18 months compared to ongoing cloud subscription costs.
How do you handle sensitive or confidential business data?
We take data confidentiality seriously — especially for clients in healthcare, legal, financial services, and government contracting.
Our approach includes:
- Signed NDAs before any engagement that involves access to business data
- Encrypted data at rest and in transit on all systems we build or manage
- Role-based access controls — team members only see what they need to
- No data shared with third parties without explicit written consent
- HIPAA-compatible configurations available for healthcare-adjacent clients
If you have specific compliance requirements, tell us upfront and we'll scope the engagement accordingly.
What happens if a system you built goes down?
Every system we build includes monitoring and, where possible, automatic recovery. But things happen — and when they do, here's what to expect:
- For clients on a maintenance retainer — we're alerted when something goes down and we respond, typically within 2–4 business hours
- For project clients — we provide a warranty period after delivery where we address any issues at no charge
- For ongoing issues beyond the warranty — we offer support contracts or per-incident support
We also document every system we build so that if you ever want to bring maintenance in-house or switch vendors, you're never left with a black box you can't explain.
🤝 Working Together
The Partnership
How do we get started?
Getting started is straightforward:
- Step 1: Schedule a free 30-minute consultation — no commitment, no sales pitch
- Step 2: We learn about your business and where the biggest opportunities are
- Step 3: We send you a clear proposal with scope, timeline, and pricing
- Step 4: You approve, we begin — with regular check-ins as we build
- Step 5: We deliver, train your team, and make sure everything works exactly as intended
From first call to working system, most projects move quickly. We don't drag things out.
What do you need from us to get started?
For the initial consultation — nothing except 30 minutes of your time and an honest description of how your business runs today.
Once we're into the engagement, we'll typically need:
- Access to the tools and platforms we'll be connecting (with appropriate credentials)
- A point of contact who understands the workflow we're automating
- Quick feedback turnarounds during build — usually 24–48 hours on our end; we ask the same from you
We don't need you to be technical — we just need you to know your business. You're the expert on what you need; we're the expert on how to build it.
Do you offer training after a project is delivered?
Yes — always. We don't hand you a system and disappear. Every delivery includes:
- A walkthrough session with the key people who will use it
- Written documentation — how it works, what to do if something looks off
- A short support window post-launch where we're available for questions
The goal is for your team to feel completely comfortable with whatever we build — not dependent on us to operate it.
Can you help us figure out what we actually need? We're not sure where to start.
Yes — this is actually what we're best at. Many clients come to us knowing something is inefficient but not knowing exactly what to fix or where to start. That's exactly what the consultation is for.
We ask good questions, listen carefully, and help you see your own business with fresh eyes. Sometimes the biggest opportunity isn't what you thought it was. We'll tell you honestly what's worth investing in and what can wait.
You can also start with our free tools right now — the Automation Assessment and ROI Calculator are a great way to start thinking about where automation could have the biggest impact before we even talk.
